Delegates take part in a seven‑month blended learning programme designed to strengthen their capabilities in technology transfer and research commercialisation. Between September and March, they engage in a combination of online mentoring, interactive workshops, and two residential sessions (one in the UK, and one in South Africa.) Delegates also take part in mentoring sessions focusing on practical topics such as engaging researchers, structuring commercialisation pathways, and building partnerships with industry.

In December, delegates attend a UK residential, which offers in‑person training, visits to leading innovation universities, and networking opportunities with UK experts. In February, delegates participate in a South African residential, enabling further peer learning, exposure to regional best practice, and engagement with local stakeholders. Core areas covered across the programme include:

  • Technology and IP assessment
  • Stakeholder mapping and partnership development
  • Commercialisation strategy and operational models
