Mentoring career changers

Teachers that come to the profession after a career elsewhere often bring a wealth of skill and knowledge to provisions and schools. Transition though can be a challenge. Mentors will benefit from this training from Now Teach, who explore how mentors can best support career changers and ensure the best outcomes for all.

 

The aims of this module were to:

• Consider the additional challenges that novice teachers may face when entering teaching from an earlier profession
• Understand how mentoring approaches might change to better support career changers
• Consider how mentors can utilise the wealth of experience that career changers can bring to schools and provisions.
